The Ole Miss Softball Team was defeated by an SEC opponent for the fourth time this season, losing all three games to No. 7 team Texas A&M.
Game 1
A&M scored in three straight innings to secure game one 5-2. The Rebels committed three errors throughout the game.
Ole Miss finally found momentum entering the fourth, scoring two runs on a passed ball. In the top of the fifth, the Rebels got even with a two-run homer off of Angelina DeLeon.
The tie would not hold for long, as the Aggies would get two runs back on a throwing error by Rebel’s catcher Brady Lexie.
The Aggies sealed game one with an insurance run in the sixth on another throwing error by Lexie.
Game 2
Saturday’s contest was rained-out during the game and resumed on Sunday.
Despite only getting three hits, the Aggies put up seven runs in a 7-2 win during their second game.
A&M scored three in the first off a homer, a double steal and a groundout. The Rebels got one back off an Aynslie Furbush solo homer to left field. A&M extended their lead in the third on a single up the middle.
They went on to get two more runs on a single and a throwing error by Ryan Starr in the fourth.
Ole Miss got one back from a Jaden Pone single in the fifth. They had runners on second and third in that same inning but could not capitalize.
Game 3
The Aggies blanked the Rebels in the finale with a final score of 2-0. The Aggies scored the game-winning run on a single in the second and extended their lead in the sixth on a wild pitch.
Aggie pitcher Emiley Kennedy held the Rebels to seven innings and two hits. Grace Sparks had a good outing for the Rebels after pitching five innings, allowing two hits and giving up two earned runs but received no run support in the loss.
The Rebels will shift their focus towards another SEC Series at home hosting No. 18 Auburn. First pitch is this Friday at 5 p.m.
