Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson obtains permission to transfer after NCAA ruling

Multiple sources have confirmed Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson has been granted permission from the university to discuss the idea of transferring to other programs.

The university officials and Patterson completed a “permission to contact” form Friday, which means he can contact other programs and other programs can contact him. Patterson is not eligible to transfer within the SEC or to any school on Ole Miss’ schedule in the next two years.

The University of Michigan is a favorite to land the former No. 1 quarterback recruit in the nation, who has not played since tearing his PCL during the game against LSU. Reports indicate the Wolverines’ head coach Jim Harbaugh will be in Oxford this week, but no visit is confirmed.

The request from Patterson comes after the university received its final ruling from the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions on Friday, but does not mean the junior signal-caller will leave Oxford. Rather, Patterson will explore his options.
