College football pick ’em

Josh and Griffin are back in business after a nearly perfect week two. We told you we know what we’re talking about. Now you have a reason to trust us. We’ll pick a few matchups across the college football for entertainment purposes only, of course. Follow us to glory.

No. 19 Iowa (-2.5) at Iowa State O/U 44.5

Josh: I refuse to bet against a team donning those slick black and gold threads imitating my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cyclones are coming off a bye week after almost losing to Northern Iowa in overtime in week one. That’s tough. Hawkeyes cover no problem.

Griffin: There’s nothing I love more than two of the most midwestern schools in the country slugging it out to score a combined 24 points in which one team will ostensibly score off of a return of fake extra point. Iowa has historically dominated this rivalry, and it doesn’t stop Saturday. Hawkeyes by 10.

Kansas State at Mississippi State (-7.5) O/U 52

Josh: This all depends on Tommy Stevens. The Bulldog quarterback has had a 72.5 completion rate so far this season, surprising some people, myself included. Stevens has had injury problems, but says he’s fine. If he’s 100%, give me Mississippi State in this one.

Griffin: Corn-fed vs. cornbread. In Chris Klieman’s first year at KSU, he’s led the Wildcats to two straight wins, scoring over 100 points in the process. MSU’s defense has looked suspect in its two wins, so I’d say hammer the over at 52. If you can, tease the line down to -6.5 and take the Bulldogs. I think MSU wins by a score late.

No. 2 Alabama (-25.5) at South Carolina O/U 62

Josh: I mean this easy money right? Right? Jake Bentley is gone and Ryan Hilinski turnt up on Charleston Southern last week, but those boys in crimson don’t play around, especially if they see that SEC patch on your chest. I just don’t see the Bama boys having the type of hiccup where they only win by 20.

Griffin: Death, taxes and home ‘dogs: they’re inevitable. Alabama hasn’t covered the spread in 4 of its last 5 games, and South Carolina has covered 10 of its last 15 as home underdogs. However, sending freshman Ryan Hilinski up against Alabama’s front seven spells disaster. Take Alabama and the points if you have to make a pick, but I’d stay away from this game.

No. 9 Florida (-8.5) at Kentucky O/U 50.5

Josh: Feleipe Franks honestly lost my trust in that game against Miami. I’d pick Kentucky to cover this one if my boy Terry Wilson didn’t go down with the season-ending injury last week. The Gators have too much skill for Kentucky to keep up.

Griffin: I hate Florida. I hate the chomp, I hate Feleipe Franks, and I HATE Dan Mullen. However, personal convictions aside, this Kentucky team doesn’t stand a chance against the Gators. Franks found his footing against UT Martin last week, and despite injuries to two starters on the defense, I think Florida rolls against the Cats. Give me the Gators and the points.

Southeastern Louisiana at Ole Miss (-31) O/U 53

Josh: I was able to get a front row seat in the student section at the Arkansas game and I liked what I saw. The Rebels have a new confidence and know they have the potential to improve. I know I was down on the Rebs last week, but I am nothing if not a hot take pendulum swinging back and forth with the slightest gust of wind. Rebels cover.

Griffin: SELA has never beaten a FBS opponent, and they’ll extend that streak on Saturday. They’re ranked 24th nationally in FCS polls, but that’s tantamount to scoring 20 points in an intramural basketball game and wondering why you haven’t gotten any offers yet. Matty Ice and Scottie will combine for over 500 total yards and send the Lions packing with an L and a $450,000 check. Rebs win and Rebs cover, bags secured for all!
