After a scrappy overtime win against Mississippi State on Sunday, the Lady Rebels continued their stretch of home games on Thursday against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Georgia came into this game sitting at the bottom of the conference with an overall record of 11-14 and 2-10 in the SEC. Ole Miss stood much higher in the standings as it came into this game fourth in the conference at 18-7 overall and 8-4 SEC.

The Lady Rebels played an energetic game, and their efforts led to a complete domination of Georgia 73-51.

Offensive MVP(s): Marquesha Davis, Madison Scott and Kennedy Todd-Williams

Davis stood out most during the game as she had an impressive 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Her disruption of the Bulldog’s passing game was crucial in the 18 turnovers the Lady Rebels forced during the game. Besides her outstanding defense, she led the team in scoring and earned the title of offensive player of the game.

Madison Scott and Kennedy Todd-Williams were also key to the win, contributing by any means necessary. Scott had 16 points and 6 assists while Todd-Williams had 15 points and 4 assists.

Defensive MVP(s): The entire defensive team

While several Lady Rebels stood out on defense, the entire team is worthy of praise after their performance. On a night where Coach Yo’s squad held the Bulldogs to a mere 3 points in the entire second quarter, the defensive cohesion and dominance displayed by the Lady Rebels was a team effort.

Needs Improvement: limiting turnovers and hitting open threes

While the Lady Rebs did have a successful night, there is still room for improvement. Ole Miss had 10 turnovers, which could cost them dearly once in the SEC or NCAA tournament.

They also need to improve on their three-point shooting, as they only made two out of their seven shots from beyond the arc. Increasing this percentage will be instrumental in staying in games as the season winds down and as the postseason begins.

What is next?

With only three games remaining in the regular season, Ole Miss will travel to Missouri on Monday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. for their next game. They also play Kentucky on the road on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 6 p.m. The Lady Rebs’ final game of the season will be at home against Arkansas on Sunday, March 3, at 3 p.m.
