The Ole Miss Rebels recently landed a new player, this time from the recruiting world. It was announced on April 22 that — six-foot-one 205 pound linebacker Jarcoby Hopson is joining the Rebels.
The Lake Cormorant, Miss., native is one of the top defensive players in the 2025 recruiting class so the Rebels will have to do some defense to keep him on the squad. Hopson primarily plays safety but plays linebacker as well. Coming off of his junior season with 71 tackles, Hopson demonstrates versatility, as he is able to cover just a little bit, something that can be developed even more if the Rebels want to keep him at safety.
The Rebels will have to wait on Hopson for another year unless he reclassifies, but when he gets to Oxford he has a chance to start right away. If he starts, he would be joining Chris Paul Jr, who would be entering his senior season, unless he declares for the draft. The Rebels will likely lose a lot of depth and key players, but Hopson will certainly play a part in the team’s future, potentially on both sides of the ball.
According to The Grove Report, with Hopson’s commitment, the Rebels now possess the No. 9 ranked signing class in the SEC and the No. 17 class in the nation for the 2025 cycle.
