Ole Miss Football’s Suntarine Perkins was arrested and charged early Thursday morning with driving under the influence and careless driving, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Perkins, a 20-year-old freshman, was booked at 2:40 a.m, according to the sheriff’s department’s arrest record. An incident report was not made available immediately. This is Perkins’ first offense.
Ole Miss Athletics has not commented on the arrest.
The former Raleigh High School athlete arrived in Oxford for the 2023-2024 football season, and he made an immediate impact on the defense. His potential is far greater than his freshman year stats, however, as he is pound for pound one of the scariest linebackers in the country.
Perkins was a big part of the Rebels’ success during the 2023 season, playing in all 13 games. He finished the season with 38 tackles and added 3.5 sacks.
