
The Ole Miss softball team secured its second win at home against North Alabama on Tuesday. Molly Jacobsen pitched seven innings, striking out seven and only allowing two hits.
After falling behind in the first frame, the Rebels rallied their way back into the lead scoring four runs at the bottom of the sixth. Meleah Hargett put North Alabama up when she homered to right center in the first, giving the lead to the Lions.
After two scoreless innings from both teams, the Rebels found the lead after Paige Smith singled up the middle, and Katelin Cooper took her scored her first run of the season.
The Rebels closed the game at the bottom of the sixth when Abbey Latham hit a three-run homer bringing in Jessica Puk and Autumn Gillespie.
Paige Smith answered with a home run of her own extending the lead to 6-2 on the following at-bat.
The victory at the Ole Miss Softball Complex brings the Rebels to 6-10 after a rough start to the season.
The Rebels will host the Ole Miss Classic this weekend, playing Jackson State on Friday, Feb. 28 at 3:30 p.m.
The tournament in Oxford and a midweek game against Central Arkansas will be the final tune-ups for the Rebels before opening SEC play against Missouri in March.
