Unofficial results released for Lafayette County primary election

On Tuesday, March 12, the primary election sent Mississippians flocking to the polls to cast their votes for presidential, congressional and senate candidates.

According to the Lafayette County Circuit Clerk’s office, here is how the citizens of Lafayette County voted. These results are unofficial. The official results will be available on Tuesday, March 19.

In the Lafayette County vote, two familiar faces secured the popular presidential vote in their respective parties.

Current President Joe Biden ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, receiving 1,222 votes, totaling 97.37% of the Democratic vote in Lafayette County. 

Former President Donald Trump received the majority vote in the Republican primary, beating out his competitors with a vote tally of 2,808, or 86.19%, higher than any of the other Republican nominees.

 

1st Congressional District-Democrat U.S. House of Representatives:

Dianne Dodson Black: 1,055 votes, 86.90%

Bronco Williams: 156 votes, 12.85%

 

1st Congressional District-Republican U.S. House of Representatives:

Trent Kelly: 3,073 votes, 98.02%

 

Senate-Democrat United States:

Ty Pinkins: 1,168 votes, 99.57%

 

Senate-Republican United States:

Roger Wicker: 1,786 votes, 54.85%

Ghannon Burton: 1,092 votes, 33.54%

Dan Eubanks: 365 votes, 11.21%
